We are a husband and wife team, Eric and Audrey Calhau, and we opened in May 2020. Eric is from the Methuen, MA area and Audrey is from White River Junction, VT and attended Hartford High. We have spent many years in the industry and are very excited to be able to execute our own ideas and style into a restaurant of our own! The name Forbes is derived from Audrey's mother, Catherine Forbes, who we lost to cancer in October of 2021. She fought cancer with such strength, grace, and positivity that it was evident we needed to name the restaurant in her honor. She always said "nothing worthwhile comes easy", and that has been the truth since opening in the middle of the Covid pandemic and all the challenges that have come our way. Cathy also introduced us to the the wonderful Eastman community!
At Forbes we serve "American Style" cuisine and continue to have weekly ever changing specials as well as seasonal cocktail lists! We are considered the 19th Hole and right off the 18th green with beautiful views, deck, and screen porch seating in the warmer months! We provide a beverage cart out on the course during golf season and keep the pro shop/ski shop stocked with drinks and snacks! We are available for all your catering needs; weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, business meetings, rehearsal dinners, celebrations of life and so much more!
In October 2022, we started the first annual Forbes Memorial Golf Tournament! We had many businesses and individuals sponsor holes for all proceeds to be donated to Dartmouth Cancer Center in Lebanon, NH. This is where Cathy received her excellent treatment and its our time to give back to all the doctors, nurses, scientists, and everyone else involved in trying to find a cure for this devastating disease. With the sponsors generous contributions, we were able to raise $6,000 in our first tournament. Forbes Tavern is also paying the $500 entrance fee for the winning team to play in the Prouty Golf Tournament, a tournament in which Cathy was very active in and proud of! We cannot thank everyone enough for the support in the tournament and the support in general since our opening day!
